Week 9 Colusa CA

Hola mama!!!

Well it is still hot here... honestly though I'm pretty used to it. I'll be outside knocking on doors and about 15 minutes in it's just kinda the way it is. And we have been biking less this week so that's pretty nice! You would think with all the heat I would be tanner, but I think my face just doesn't like to tan... my arms look great, but my face has not changed like at all. Rip. But the farmer's tan is on point! (is that still a thing?)

But it was a good week! Probably the craziest thing that happened was at the beginning of the week. So I told you about the phone call we got from the jail? Well we actually ended up going to the jail and teaching the guy! It was through the phone thing, But it was rather exciting. I had never been to jail before. But only one person could be on the phone at a time, so we kinda just talked with him without knowing what the other person said, haha! But it worked out! And he was super sincere and wants to change! We taught him how to pray and it has been good! He gets out tomorrow, But is going up to Chico, so we will have to have other missionaries go teach him. All good things go to Chico... jk but it was an interesting time!

Other things this week... so we are teaching an English class, and this week we were talking about saying things we do or do not like to do and why. So we were going around the room practicing, and someone asked me "do you like to read?" And I was being honest, and so I said "no, I don't like to read because it's boring." And the whole class was shocked! It was really funny. Who ever heard of a teacher that doesn't like to read?? Well Hermana Atkinson is here for that!

We are working with the Juarez kids to read the Book of Mormon more to show their parents that they really do want to be baptized, And they have been loving it! They have been reading every day! They enjoy filling in their little chart to help remind them to read! They are great kids, and I love them a ton :)

And finally, there was something someone shared in church yesterday that I really liked. There was a speaker talking about all that is possible for us as we turn to Christ. So he used an analogy about football. He is the coach for his son's team and he was working with the offensive line. So they were playing "king of the hill" so a 1v1 and winner stays. There was this one kid though that was maybe 100lbs with all his pads. And he was going up again all these other guys that were easily 150lbs. looking at that match up, there was absolutely no way that the little guy was gonna win. No matter how great his technique was, it just did not look like it would work out. That is kinda like us here. We are the little guy, and life is the bigger guy. Even if we have all the best technique, there is not a lot of hope for us to overcome everything we have to. However, that is why we have Christ! Against all odds, he makes up the difference so that we can win the fight! We just have to turn to him and let him in. It made me think about what my life would be like if I did not know Christ. iIwould just be so different and down a completely different path... so i am thankful that I have had him in my life and I am happy to share him with others :)

But it was a good week! Hermana Orton and I have some fun times here in good 'ol Colusa!  I hope you have a great week! Love and miss you!!
