Hey Mom!
This week flew by and there was actually a lot of good that happened!
First off, the Juarez family! So we went back and Cristina, their mom, is on board completely!! We were super excited!! But then we learned that their dad isn't on board... he wants them to show their devotion more. So we are now working with him more. Except we hardly ever see him... but we will make it work!!
Another person close to baptism is Laura! She went to church last week and loved it! She said she felt so good there and that she learned a lot! So we had a lesson and asked her to be baptized. She said not yet, she wants to learn more. But we feel that soon she can be on date!! So we are super excited.
One thing I did not think would be a problem out here is rice. It's rice season so a lot of people we are working with that. It is like a 2 month endeavor. And a lot of people we are working with are working in the rice. So they do 12 hour days 6 days, sometimes 7 days a week. So that darn rice... but it'll be done at the end of October.
One crazy story for this week is that one morning we were running for exercise, like we do every day. So we were running and there was a dog that went to cross the road and he just kinda sat in the road. But then a car came, so he crossed to the other side of the road, but was still in the road. And then when he turned his head the other way a semi truck came, and there was dog flying... we witnessed the death of a dog... and he got ripped in half... it was gross, but good motivation to run faster! The next day a dog almost attacked us, but we made it past. Gotta love the dogs out here in Colusa...
We also had another miracle. With food. So we were feeling lazy, so we had a frozen pizza for dinner. But we put that in the oven, and then we had a call that we had to take, so we were on the phone for a bit. The timer was on my phone though, so it didn't go off... so we got off the phone to see that the tie was 10 minutes over... we were like rip, we're having black pizza... but we got it, and it wasn't even burnt in the slightest! It was a true miracle and our bellies were very appreciative :)
But it was a good first week to the transfer! Colusa is a good little town! And to celebrate the first day of fall, it is going to be about 100 for the next two days... But then after that the high is in the 70s! so that'll be nice. Sweater weather!
thanks for writing me! I love to hear about what's happening. Love and miss you!
