Hey mom!!
The people we usually got to visit cancelled on us, which was sad... but that means we got to see more people and see people we haven't seen in a while! But Marlen is still preparing for baptism, so we will be planning a lot for that this week! We are excited!
Also something exciting, Ana went to church! We have been working with her and her daughter, Deanna. Deanna goes to church every week, but we haven't been able to get Ana to come... so this week she finally came!! It was super exciting! Especially because we tried to make that a priority this week, and we made sure to do something for her every day. It was cool to see that as we put that effort it, God helps us out :) But that was probably the most exciting this this week.
Ok, time for funny stories this week... First off, so we live next door to the other sisters, and we got over all the time and never lock our door or bring our keys. Well I guess this one time we decided to lock the door... and we didn't bring the keys... so it was like 10:30 (which is bedtime) and we were locked out of the house... we thought we were gonna have to call a member in the ward to help us break in, which i was not looking forward to cause I was rocking the llama pajama pants. so Hermana Carter tried to pick the lock, and she was close! But that didn't work. So then we decided to try a window in the kitchen, and it was open!! So I climbed through the window over top of the sink. so we got in at least! and then the funny part was we did it again last night... You would have thought we would have learned.
Another crazy story, we went to the carnations, a member in the Spanish group. And we aren't supposed to eat with members during the week, so we went over to share a spiritual message and get to know them, because they have been out of town for a bit. so we called them and they were like "do you want dinner?" and we said no thanks, but then Brother Carnation quoted some random bible verse and said "we'll have dinner ready when you get there!" and hung up... and then we got there and they had dinner for us. But then we got there and they had wine on the table... and we were like, what??? Luckily it was just a joke. I was low key worried at first though. But also, brother carnation kept calling us the "mission mormonaries" and it was funny, haha! They also had a crazy dog named Toby... he ran out of the house when we first got there. And then they were all yelling at him to get him in the house. But then they started ringing the doorbell to get his attention. But he was like, outside across the street, so I don't know what they were thinking if that would work. It was an interesting night to say the least...
Then, on Saturday we had a lesson with this older couple in Orland. It went well! he read the Book of Mormon! they are awesome. But they had a garden and we were talking to him about it, and then he went out and got some aloe vera plant. so then he was telling us how good it was for our skin and hair, so he ran it all over his face with like the icky sticky stuff... but then he came back and gave us 2 GIANT arms of the plant. And they also gave us a bag of peppers. Things that only happen as a Spanish hermana, haha! but that night, Hermana Carter and I put it all in a blender and put it in our hair. It was gross... it felt like a booger... but it made our hair SO SOFT!! We slept on it and washed it out the next morning. So it was disgusting, but it worked!! We also had some face masks, so we decided to have a spa night. We looked really attractive as you can imagine.
And the last thing, so we went over to the Orozcos last night to help the other sisters with a lesson. We taught keeping the sabbath day holy, and so we made sundays with ice cream, and talked about like good things to put on a sunday, like sprinkles, chocolate, whipped cream. tThose represent the good things we do on Sunday, like go to church, read scriptures, and be with family. And then they talked about things that are good, but not on a Sunday. So they put on like cheese its, mustard, tapatio, frozen peas, and a lot of gross stuff, which represented like shopping and working and stuff. But the ice cream looked pretty nasty at the end... but naturally, after the lesson I ate some of it. No one thought I would do it, so of course I had to. It was really gross... but hey, gotta earn that respect, am I right? ice cream, frozen peas, mustard, chocolate, and tapatio... it was interesting...
But it was a good week! Lots of crazy things happened, and lots of good things happened! We are looking forward to Marlen's baptism! I also have MLC(mission leadership conference) in Gridley this week, so that will be exciting!
I hope you had a great week and can't wait to talk next week!! love and miss you!!
