Week 2 Chico/Orland CA

Hey mom!!!

I got your package with the music! It's ssoooooo good thanks!! And it's good cause we're in the car a lot. Also those llama space pants are AWESOME!! muchas gracias!! Also, for my address, it's apartment B... I forgot that part but I still got the package.

Oh man where to start... I don't even remember what happened this week.

Well to start, we continued to visit a lot of members in the wards we are covering. One of them is Spanish and the other is English (the Willows ward). So we spent some time down in both. It is a hard balance though, because we want to do Spanish work as much as we an, because that is where we were called to. But we also need to work some down in willows with the English work. So we're working on finding that balance. But we spent 2 days down in willows. Like I said we have been meeting with the members, and they are all super nice! Also though, there are like 2 families under the age of 60 there haha. So it's a pretty old ward, and it's pretty small. But they all love the missionaries, so it's great! We also found some new people to teach down there too! So hopefully that works out. There were even some Spanish people down there! But probably the most interesting part was we did a service on a farm. Ever week we help this one family out with feeding some of their animals. So we got there, and the lady wasn't there, so we called her and she just gave very vague directions. So basically we had to figure it out on our own. But we were looking for Jack the Donkey, only to find out that he just got moved to her another's farm... so instead we fed the sheep that sounded like he wanted to murder us. He legit sounded like a bear. and then we also fed the chickens. Luckily Sister Carter had a little more experience with that kind of stuff than me, otherwise i would have been lost. but it was a good time!

Another cool place we went this week was corning. it is more north, but there are a TON of Spanish people in that area! So we found a lot of new people to teach, so that was super awesome!! Overall it was a great week for finding! Especially for Spanish! But we are excited to work with them all! The Spanish members are also excited to help us out! We are trying to grow the Spanish group here so that it can become a branch!

On Friday we had our Christmas party with the Orland /Spanish ward. That was super fun! They had a short Christmas program and lots of good food and lots of good people! So we got to talk to some coo people there. I always feel super awkward talking to people, but i hope I'm not as awkward as I feel... But that was a fun time!

The other experience that happened with finding this week had 2 parts for me to see the whole picture. Tuesday we were contacting some people from our area book. we had a ist of names written of who we would like to see,  Hermana Carter and I prayed about who we thought we should visit. Then we would share who came to our minds. It was so cool, because just about every time, the same name would come to us. That's when I knew it was inspired. But along with that, all those people that we contacted were home and willing to hear our message of Jesus Christ. It was a super cool experience. The next day we had district counsel, and we made a goal to show the light the world video to at least 5 different people a day. So we got pumped to do that, and then we went out! This time though it was a much less spirit lead finding time, because I was just so focused on getting those 5 videos shown, that I forgot to add the most important companion in the decision making process, the Spirit. It just took so much longer to do it that way. However, by not counseling with the spirit, we went to more places, but saw less people, and it was frustrating. So looking back at these two times of finding, I was really able to see the importance of the spirit in finding and in as a huge part of missionary work. I'm definitely not going back to the second way.

Oh, one more story. So we were at the Sutherland's for dinner and they are the cutest. They are a little old couple from the Willows ward and they are SO NICE!! like I want to adopt Sister Sutherland as my grandma. But she plays the violin and she was playin in church the next day, so she practiced her song for us and it was good! And then after I told them that I played, and so I got to play for them a little! But then the next day at church they were telling everyone in the ward that I played, so now I am playing like 3 different times for the Christmas party coming up. It was cute of them. they were like proud grandparents talking about us. But I m excited to play for Christmas music! Now all I have to do is find a violin... rip.

But it was a good week! Hermana Carter and I are doing well. She struggles with her Spanish still, and i struggle helping her with that... we still aren't like homies. I honestly don't know if we will ever be "homies." she is super great and kind and we get along, we just aren't super close. We are just really different people. But we're doing good and working hard!

Well Christmas is getting closer and I'm getting excited! Sometimes it doesn't feel real that it is December, cause it's still like 60 degrees out. But we have our Christmas tree and our nativity, and my Christmas music, so we are definitely prepared! I hope you have a great week!

I'll be sending a Christmas box soon! They are wrapped, so you can open the box. There are gonna be letters with it tho, so open the present first and then the letters. Love you :)

Love and miss you!
