Week 14 Gridley CA

Hey mom!!

Sorry for writing so late... We've had a busy morning...

Well if I had to describe this week in one word, it would be food. SO MUCH FOOD!!! I'm not complaining though, cause it's all super good!

We had our meals covered like every day, every meal. Tuesday we had lunch with a lady we were doing service for. It was just hot dogs, but still super sweet of her. We helped out with her garden which is HUGE!!! But that was a good time! And then that night we got to eat with Maria Tinoco, one of our favorite members in the branch. She is so fun and awesome! But she made us tamales!! They were SO GOOD!!! It was my first time having tamales out on the mission! But she gave us like so much food, so I was bien llena (very full), but that was awesome.

Wednesday, we started the day with our branch president. He made us huevos rancheros, and they were so good! we also got to hang out with a lady named Vera, and she was super sweet! She was an older lady, but super fun to talk to! For lunch we met up with our branch mission leader, Juan, at a place called waffle place. It was good, and of course I got a waffle. But then he was joking that I should eat 2 more pancakes. Now, after my waffle I was already full. But then my buddy Juan decided to get me some more pancakes... They were really good! I was just super full... so I left there pretty stuffed. We had a dinner appointment that night, but it ended up getting cancelled, which honestly worked out pretty good cause  was still stuffed with breakfast food.

The next crazy food day was Saturday. We got a call that there was some breakfast being served at the church and they invited the missionaries to have the extra food. So we had some really yummy pancakes that day. And then we met an older couple for brunch around noon and had some yummy blueberry muffins (and their dog's name was muffin, so we had muffins with muffin, haha). So that was yummy and fun! We always love going over to the Cameron's! They are so kind and fun to talk to and have good stories! But they sent us home with a bag of persimmons, pomegranates, apples, and squash, all from their garden! It is so cool that people grow things like that out here. It makes me want to have a garden when I get old. But that night we went to visit someone new we started teaching, Paul. He invited us in and invited his sister to join us. We had an awesome lesson with them and talked about faith, repentance, baptism, and the gift of the Holy Ghost. They were super interested and had some awesome questions! We were super pumped about that! And then after, Paul came out with a plate of food for us! Just out of nowhere! It was super kind of him! And that was just our first dinner of the night... He also sent us home with some pistachios he just harvested, and a bag of limes. So kind... Paul is awesome. And then right after that we went to a baby shower to helped set up, and they sent us home with pasole, tamales, and cake. And then finally we went to our actual scheduled dinner at a branch member's house. So, we had 3 dinners.... YUMMY!! But very full...

But along with food, we had a good week doing other missionary work! We had an awesome lesson with Gabe! It was kinda short, but still really good. We gave him a Book of Mormon and wrote our testimony's in it, and he was super excited to get that. I really think that will be what helps him grow his testimony. Because you need to read the scriptures in order to really gain his own testimony. But it was super awesome!

This week we also had interviews with our mission president! It was super awesome to talk to him! It always is! But we talked about things I could do to improve my efforts as a missionary. It was really good for us to talk about that, cause I'm always looking for ways I can improve. We talked about how I can improve my studies. So I am looking forward to being more spiritually uplifted!

But that was about it for the week. We started doing some killer workouts in the morning. Gotta stay huge, or at least try to... and also something kinda funny. So we were out contacting people, and Hermana Feveryear asked if I had to go to the bathroom, and I was like yeah I do... But I didn't know how she knew... Then she said I had to go to the bathroom every day at that time. So that was pretty funny that she knows me so well she knows my bathroom schedule haha.

But it was a good week! I miss you a ton!
