Week 10 Gridley CA

Hey <om!!

Sorry it took so long to write today... but I got your two packages! Thank you for everything! It was all super fun to get! I love the dresses and the pistachios and everything! thank you so much!!

Well this week was a super fun one! This weekend was like a straight party. But before that, there were some fun things that happened.

First, I FOUND THE GOOD PEBBLE ICE!! Oh man it was soooo good. Like I was in heaven. It's at the same place that does milkshake Mondays, ice burgees. what a place.

Also, we were having dinner with a family from one of the English wards, and they asked me to pray, so I did it in English. And that was rough... it was like I forgot the words in English. that was weird, but kinda cool. I made it through though. It just took a hot second.

The next fun thing that happened was at a dinner with Sister Ceja. We had chicken and salad and potatoes, and it was so good like always. But Sister Ceja and I just bonded over the potatoes. We both were talking about how much we loved potatoes and how great they were and we both ate like more than we should have, but it was a good time! She even sent me home with 2 potatoes so you better believe I fried those up for breakfast!

I also found out I ate bunny... We were at the fiesta and there were carnitas, so I just assumed it was beef or something, but I talked to the guy who made it, and he said it was bunnies... so rip... also they were very tasty...

But now the weekend! So to start, on Friday we had a relief society activity with the members of the branch. So all the hermanas in the branch got together and we made little nativity sets out of wood. I'm not the best with crafts, but it was a good time to just hang out with everyone and talk and attempt to make a nativity. We also got to go to some one's mission call opening. It was from the Stewarts, and they are lovely. They have so many beautiful daughters, and their second oldest just got her mission call an she is going to Honduras! That was really cool, cause her family on her mom's side is from Honduras. I'm super excited for her and all the great experiences she is going to have!

Then Saturday we had a carnival! But first, we visited a few people. One of which was named Willie. We were looking for his son, but he wasn't there, so we got to talk with Willie for a bit. He is a less active member, so it was fun to visit him. But he was super nice, and he invited us in and he said he played the guitar and so he showed us. And like he is way good... not the "oh i play every now and then" but like he was jamming out to Bonjovi and John Denver and other classics. We have plans to go back and try to help reactive them. So we are excited to go back.

But then we had the carnival! That was super fun. There was a ton of food and games and people and it was great! We got to hang out and talk with a lot of different members from the Spanish branch, as well as from the other wards in the stake. And also, all the missionaries were there so it was fun to hang out with them. I found I love hanging out with missionaries, cause they're people my own age. Usually when we are out working with people, it's people who are way older than us. So it's fun to be able to be with people my own age. And someone commented how all the missionaries just acted like a big family, and that was fun to hear, cause I feel like they're my family! Some of them can get annoying, but you still love them. But the carnival was a super great time!

And then came Sunday, which was also my birthday! It was a super fun time. I opened presents from fam in the morning and mom sent me some cake (cake #1), and then the other hermanas made me pancakes (cake #2) which was super nice of them and not expected! And then we had church which is always a good time!  Ana Hernandez got me flowers and a cake (cake #3) which was super sweet of her. She is super awesome and fun to joke with, which I like to do. And sister Orme also got me a cake (cake #4), so that was really sweet of her. And at sacrament Ihad to translate again, which was rough but not too bad.

After church we helped out some members and then had to head out to dinner with Karina and her family! That was super fun, especially cause I love that family. But we had pasole, which is a REALLY good soup!! I've heard about it from the other hermanas and they always talk about how great it is, so I was really happy to try it. Then after dinner they brought out not one, not two, but THREE CAKES (cake #5, #6, #7). They sang the traditional Mexican birthday song, that I need to learn. Then they were like "bite it!" so I bit the cake, and they they shoved my face in it! I was like wow, these people really are after my heart. But yeah that was a really fun time!

And then to end the night, we met up with our branch mission leader, Juan Arellano. Juan and I are homies. But he made a HUGE tres leches cake (cake #8) and it was really good, but I was so stuffed... like the cake was literally the size of a refrigerator shelf. I'll send a picture of it. But he sent us home with like half of it, and now we have a huge tres leches cake in our house, along with a few other cakes... but that was fun. Juan is a good buddy.

The coolest part of my birthday was being able to spend it will all these different people who are so loving. My companion helped to make it a fun and awesome day! But like, I'm still stuffed from yesterday. If you kept track of the count going on, I had 8 different cakes yesterday... like idk if I'm gonna fit into my skirts anymore. rip.

But it was a great day, and a great week!! This week we are supposed to be loosing the car, so Thursday is the first biking day. Maybe I can work off some of that cake. But we also have zone conference, and general conference this weekend!! so I'm super excited. It'll be a great week! Also, it rained today for like .5 seconds! That was hype. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much when we start biking tho...

I love and miss you! I hope you have a great week! Always remember Heavenly Father loves you!!
