I love hearing about all you guys did! I'm sure the kids are stoked for school :)
Wednesday morning we had our last district meeting of the transfer. They happen every week and they're always a good time. But we have 2 elders going home this transfer, so tomorrow, so we had a funeral for them. When they go home, they're "dying" and last transfer I was "born" and my trainer is my "mom" and the district leader is my "dad." so there is a lot of mission lingo I'm getting caught up on. But anyway, we had a funeral for them and it was pretty funny. I'll send the video in a different email. Idk if it'll be as funny to ya'll, but just chuckle for me.
Wednesday we also had a really good lesson with one of the people we are teaching! We were talking to her and the lesson went the complete opposite direction than we thought it would. But it was a really great lesson, and she says she wants to be baptized, but first she needs to get married to the guy she is living with. They have been living together for years, and just haven't gotten married, cause he feels like it's not necessary when you get old. So hopefully we can keep working with that. The spirit was really strong though and it was way awesome.
Thursday was also good. First, the food. :) We had dinner with sister Ceja and it was great like always. We had some pretty killer fish tacos. I'm still convinced that anything in taco form is good. But she also had us try some mole (mole-ay). That was weird... but not too bad. but what mole is is it is chocolate and chilies made into a sauce and poured on chicken. It's not to bad, but I'm not a huge fan. Its probs the weirdest thing I've eaten so far though. But also Thursday night we had another great lesson!! We are working with a family. The mom and the oldest daughter are members of the church, but their dad isn't. They both are working so hard try to get him to join so their family can have all the blessings the church has to offer. He goes to church and participates, so he is basically a member without trying. But they really want him to be baptized. so we have been working with them, and we asked him if he would be baptized, and he said he would!! Everyone was so happy! I'm super excited for that family! cause they really are awesome, and I know they will continue to receive many blessings. And one funny thing, the oldest daughter who is 9, Gabby, would always try to get her dad to pray, so she would say "Dad, you pray! one, two, three go!" and it was super sweet. They are a great family. They also have a 6 year old daughter named Marta, and she is so cute. We are good buds. She'll always run up and give us hugs at church. But yeah that was awesome.
Then Friday, we had a baptism!! It was the baptism of Alex, Danisha's (the girl who was baptized at the beginning of August) little brother! It was a fun time to see how truly happy he was to be baptized. Like he had a huge smile on his face that whole night. It's a great example to me to always be happy and excited to follow Jesus Christ in all that I do. And so many people from the ward came and supported and it was great.
The next morning, Saturday, we got up a little bit earlier to play soccer with some people from the branch! There were only like 6 of us, but it was a good time! I thought I was a lot worse at soccer too... but turns out I'm not as bad as I think. I said that it's the Spanish. as your Spanish improves, your soccer skills automatically improve with it. They thought that was pretty funny. I thought I was pretty funny too. I try to not let it get to my head, but it's pretty hard when you're as hilarious as I am.
But then Sunday came, and Sunday was transfers! Since I was training, Sister Fuller and I were suppose to be together for 12 weeks. so we thought we were going to be staying in Gridley together, and nothing would happen. but we were wrong... Sister Fuller is getting transferred to another area... and I'm getting a different companion... in the middle of training. This has never happened before, according to what Sister Fuller knows. But yeah that was crazy... so basically my training was cut in half. Now I have to "take over the area" which basically means I'm low-key in charge, cause my new companion does not know anything about the area. And also, she was just in English wards for the past 3 months, so her Spanish is not too great cause she hasn't used it in a while. So I am also going to have to take the lead on that... so basically I'm kinda freaking out and still surprised and a little confused as to why that happened... but all things happen for a reason...
So basically that whole day we went to church and said bye to people, and then we said some more goodbyes later that night. All the people here love Sister Fuller so much. It's kinda intimidating. Like she has been here for 10 months, and now I have to fill her shoes... and I do love the people, but I feel like sometimes I'm not the best at sharing that. and I see how much all the members love her, and I want to be able to have that bond with them. I know it takes time, but that is something I don't have now. But it'll be fine. Just something for me to work on I guess...
But yeah that was the big surprise of the week. Sorry for the long email, but as you can tell a lot happened.
Love and miss you! Have a great week!
