Week 4 at the CCM

Hi Mom!!!

I love hearing about everything! it all sounds so fun!! Your cousins are super fun from what I remember!! And way to go on the cooking competition! the last time I went to the Oregon coast I won the bocce ball comp with uncle Gary. I miss playing games with you guys. But yeah a great honor for Val to play with the uncles!

Did you get my cards for the girlies birthday? And do you know where the extra name tags might have come from? Also, can you please send me nic´s address? I have to send him a birthday card next week.

This week as such like all the others. Study the scriptures. Study the language. Learn about Christ and God. Talk to some Latinos. So nothing too new at that point. I'm still loving it. It's like I basically get to hang out all day with my friends and learn some stuff in between, so that's fun. I still have yet to meet anyone that is also going to Roseville, CA, so I might be the only one in all of northern Cali. Ha, it's not too bad but its just kinda sad cause I meet so many awesome people, and there is a large possibility that I might not see them again, and that's really sad. Cause we've all grow so close, especially in my district. We were talking during a district meeting about unity, and one of the elders said "we're like into a dish"  and we all died. It was funny and we were all waiting for the opportunity to use that joke, and this was perfect. But yeah the district is great and it'll be sad to leave them all in 2 weeks

But yeah this week was pretty regular. One fun thing was that with the Haitian district that is here, we made them a care package on the fourth of July, cause like their family can't send them stuff. So we got a bunch of candy and stuff and then wrote them all cards and put it in their classroom. After dinner we were walking back to class and we saw the group of hermanas outside the class and they were all crying happy tears, cause they never imagined someone doing something like that for them. So we got to give them all hugs and they are all super kind and sweet and they're all beautiful. I love seeing their smiling faces. Just seeing them makes me happy. And I was happy we could do that for them, cause it was fun for us to do and plan, but it was even better to see how much it meant to them.

Along the lines of service, hermana Jensen and I also got to volunteer to work in the kitchen sometimes after meal time. We just help with cleaning the dishes and putting them away, but oh my gosh it is so fun! It takes me back to the dcc days. Cleaning silverware and taking care of plates and stuff. But it was so fun. Hermana Jensen and I did it this morning for like an hour cause it is our p-day, so we have a lot more time. But it was awesome. Like honestly the highlight of my day so far. But also all I've done so far is that, cleaned my casa and ran (aka died). But yeah that was super fun! I didn't think I would miss washing dishes.

The one other weird thing that happened this week was with birds. Hermana Jensen and I were walking around outside cause we needed a break from studying and learning. But when we were walking we saw two birds fighting. But like one bird was just being a bully and picking on the other bird. It would sit on the other birds head so he couldn't move. So then we decided we needed to help the bird, so we ran over and scared the bully bird away. We didn't know what to do with the other bird cause it looked hurt, but we didn't want to pick it up in case it got more hurt. So we started to walk away again and then the bully bird came back and sat on his head again. So then we ran back to scare the bird away, but still didn't know what to do... so we ended up just walking away and leaving the bird. But then when we walked back by before lunch to check on it, the bird was dead, the other bird like ripped open it's head. It was sad... But that's the story of how I witnessed a bird die. And then for the next 2 days we saw dead birds around the ccm. So I think there it a bird serial killer out there. Poco triste...

But yeah that was about it for my week. Days after b-day are always rough cause then I'm super tired. But then I just have to make it to Sunday and then be spiritually uplifted and just enjoy life. But it's good! I'm working out, trying not to get fat. I don't think it's working.... so if you have any workouts please send them my way. But also, I've learned that toasted peanut butter and nutella bread is like straight gold. I would HIGHLY recommend. And also whenever they have chocolate chip cookies here it's like straight from heaven. It doesn't happen very often, so when it does it is very exciting. But maybe this is why I'm getting squishy... gotta love those carbs and chocolate.

Also, I'm learning some Mexican slang, so basically I'm Latina. Be jealous. But actually not... I still sound very gringo. But talking to the Latinos are fun! It's weird to think that like a year from now I won't need to think too much on the Spanish and it'll just flow, cause now it's pretty bad. But it's getting there.

Also i shrunk a shirt... and another one of my skirts.... it was my black one, so now i have no more black skirts. They are still modest, just not missionary modest. so I might need you to send me a skirt when I get to Cali... I only have 4 now... a black flowy one might be nice. The longer the better. And I've found that now that I'm a missionary, missionary clothes don't look as ugly as I thought haha. but yeah I'm pretty mal at laundry and idk why. I think I'm just meant to wear jeans and t-shirts and sweatshirts for the rest of forever.

But yeah that was my week! We're going to the temple today so that's exciting!

I love seeing your pictures! Love and miss you!
